The only time you are using a pump release is when you are done shooting and need to unload a round.It feeds in smooth and ejects just as smooth. That's an excellent value for a very ergonomic and very modern, feature-filled shotgun.The fit and finish is excellent. The M4 has a free carrier that allows the chambered shell to be ejected while keeping a new shell from loading from the mag tube. That said, they're not priced the same. The M4 is 2.5X the price of the 930SPX and is not worth the extra money in my case.
