I have a bluestar 2E that wont idle down after breaking arc unless you flip the idle up/down toggle. This machine is a 1985 and has sentimental value to me.I think I remember this was a common problem with these welders. Anyone run into this with a bluestar.It has a 16HP tecumseh and still welds great.Tweet. #2. 02-04-2008, 10:10 PM. Sure you can swap it out. All you have to do is match shaft sizes and possibly modify the mount to accomodate a shorter or taller engine, but it can be done. You can even use the couplers, like the ones they use on log splitters and such to connect dissimilar shafts. Just be sure to get the right size for the hp ....
